Pumphouse... We have found the use of these irrigation valve boxes to be an inexpensive yet effective way of providing a pump vault. For wet or dry vault applications.

The use of the valve boxes requires a 4" thick concrete mortar floor base. (Not included)

These containers are made of HDPE heavy construction grade plastic which has a much longer life expectancy than wood and is less labor to install than a concrete pumphouse. Plumbing passes through the walls via bulkhead fittings and flexible PVC pipe.

New for 2006, recent lid modifications have allowed us to provide this lid with a heat dissipating design, which has eliminated the need for the old style vent.

Strainer basket housing & vented pumphouse with pump & plumbing
 


 

Determine location of pump, relative to pond, read information regarding pump placement.

Cut rectangular straight sided hole in ground 2" wider and longer than the outside pumphouse bottom flange dimension. Hole should be 15" deep.

Pour 3 cu. ft. redi mix concrete in hole. Nestle pumphouse in pour of concrete as shown above.

Using a pie shaped masonry trowel, trowel wet concrete in place, making sure to make a clean poured edge on the inside perimeter of the pumphouse. Do the same on the outside. This will provide a water-proof floor. Adding water sealing additives to the concrete will aid in waterproofing the floor. Thoroseal can also be applied to the inside floor of the pumphouse.

Using a hole saw, install bulkhead fittings for suction and discharge lines of pump.

Use flex PVC pipe to join bulkheads through wall of pumphouse to fittings & pump.

Connect pump with a pair of union combos for easy removal of pump from pumphouse.

 

 Example of PH1324 Pumphouse with P3571 leaf trap and PD1800 Pondmaster pump

  1. V250 1 1/2" Slide Valve placed in front of leaf trap (suction side). Plumbing line passes thgough a C215 1 1/2" bulkhead fitting in the wall of the pumphouse (to the left of the knife valve).
  2. 2" 1/2 union with 1 1/2" by 2" slip by slip reducer bushing. (Half union comes with leaf trap).
  3. P3571 leaf trap
  4. 2" half union with 3/4" by 2" thread by slip reducer bushing. Adapts leaf trap pipe size down to 3/4" pump suction port size.
  5. PD 1800 Pondmaster pump. Other pump possibilities are any other Pondmaster, Hy-Drive series, Rio, etc.
  6. 1 1/2 " 90 degree fitting with 3/4 " by 1 1/2" slip by slip reducer bushing.
  7. C250 1 1/2" slip by slip union
  8. C215 1 1/2" bulkhead. This is the discharge side of the pumping system.

Item C249 has 1 1/2" female slip sockets for 1 1/2" pipe.

The outside diameter of the socket end of the union accepts 2" PVC fittings, e.g.: couplings, male and female adapters, 90°s and 45°s etc.

ProTect Pump Cover

Intended for centrifugal pumps such as : Performance Pro, Sequence and other similar style pumps.
Used in installation applications were the pump is slightly above or at exposed grade level
It generally only shrouds the electric motor portion of the pump.
Multiple units can be linked together for pumps such as the Performance Pro Artesian pump with integral leaf traps.
The Protector has "knock outs" for passage of pipe. Not intended to provide a water tight vault, only to dramatically reduce the effects of rain, snow and sun from reducing the life of the motor.
Taupe color; 15" long, 13 1/2" wide, 14 1/2" high with 2 air vents on each side.
Snaps together to allow for compact shipping box size.
Inside of ProTect is lined with 3/8" thick styrofoam as insulation.
