9. This photo was taken about 1/2 hour after
the waste was removed from the floor. Note the lightening
of the blackened area as it comes in contact with air.
10. Arrow shows location of swing check
valve. This is also the point where the surface plumbing exits
the pond. Gray pipe is return and jetting pipe.
11. Close up of check
valve and plumbing exiting the pond.
12. Close up of jetting plumbing. The gray
1/2" line
has holes drilled in it to blow water in the direction of the
surface drains. Note the gradual disappearance of the blackened
anaerobic area of the floor.
13. Excavated hole in the ground for pump
house. This is approximatly 1 1/2 60 lb bags of redi-mix concrete. Note that
the pour of concrete has been trowled flat.
14. Pumphouse with plumbed pump set in fresh
pour of concrete.
15. The black pipe in the background is the suction
line exiting the pond. It is directed downward into a trench
whch is below surface water level of the pond. The line
is kept at this low level all the way to the pump. This creates
a "flooded suction" to the pump. Juniper roots were
tunneled under to maintain pipe dept.
16. Internal surface plumbing completed. Bridge
has be put back in place. Pond is ready to be refilled. Note
bamboo water return feature in place by bridge under Juniper
tree. Notice the floor of the pond is almost void of black color.
