Mild acid wash surface.We
recommend using straight vinegar, allowing vinegar to remain
(wet) on the concrete surface for 20 minutes. You could use muratic
acid and dilute it with water. Neutralize spent solution with soda ash, but we don't recommend this
method, commonly used by the swimming pool industry, as it is
environmentally unsound. After acid wash, thoroughly rinse and let surface dry completely.
Apply unthinned primer.
Allow 24 hours to cure, assuming 70 - 75º F. or warmer weather.
Never use any thinner for the paint other than Hecht thinner. The thinner is specific to the neoprene paint. (Paint after 12/2010, thinner not needed.)
Once the surface is clean
and completely dry, apply paint, allowing 1-2 hours drying
time, assuming 70 - 75º F. or warmer weather.
Apply 2 - 3 coats, allowing
1-2 hours drying time between coats, assuming 70 - 75º F.
or warmer weather.
Allow at least 24 hours
cure time before filling pond with water, then allow at least
72 hours before adding fish. (Pre 11/2010 paint only). (Paint after 12/2010, thinner not needed.)Allow 5 days before filling pond.
There is no need to rinse
the surface before adding water, nor a need to change the water
soon after filling as with some other products.
We have used this product
on renovations for over 16 years.
